Biography - English Shakama is a songwriter with a message. Her songs call for her personal growth and spiritual progress through physical, spiritual and mental development. Her lyrics have a special focus on improving life for the less fortunate. She reaches out the people of all cultures with music that is bold, ethnic, organic, and funky. She was born in the Ivory Coast in West Africa and lived in France. She earned a master's degree in criminal justice and in education. She was a professor at Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Shakama's music continues to evolve but is still rooted in the desire for social justice.
